Peter Slättman, Director of Engineering at Cushcraft Corporation in Carlsbad, California, spoke at a recent Ansoft HFSS Users Workshop. In his presentation, he outlined the advantages of using HFSS in the design and analysis of novel radiating elements for linear arrays.
"Array element design greatly benefits from a full 3D solver," said Slättman. He concluded that, with HFSS, the analysis of new complex element geometries is possible, radome effects are critical in radiating element design, and the choice of the unit cell can provide isolation data.
