THE NEED
To develop an integrated modeling and simulation environment for the development of magnetic amplifiers for instrumentation and battery-charge management used in NGST spacecraft
THE SOLUTION
Simplorer®, Maxwell® 3D
Paul Tsutsumi, Don Baxter, and David Nguyen, of Northrop Grumman, discussed how they use Simplorer and Maxwell at the 2003 Aerospace Power & Electronics Simulation Workshop, sponsored by NASA, Cleveland State University, and Ansoft.
In their presentation, they wrote, “Modern modeling and simulation capabilities promise a wealth of benefits.” They go on to list four key advantages:
- A deeper understanding of complex systems
- Cost benefits from integrating lower-level models from component suppliers into higher-level models
- Early prediction of anomalous behavior
- Decreased development time through the use of existing models
