Sensor Design
EM tools deliver innovative solutions for magnetic sensor design.
Design engineers from around the world depend on Ansoft's EM software to predict the performance, increase the accuracy, and reduce the weight and cost of magnetic sensing systems.
Maxwell 3D speeds the design process of magnetic sensing systems by allowing designers to run hundreds of "what if" scenarios on a computer instead of having to build and test design variations. Running parametric scenarios leads to a more robust design because engineers can do things such as vary material characteristics and mechanical tolerances to explore design-sensitivity issues.
Combining the advanced capabilities of Optimetrics and Maxwell 3D gives sensor designers the unprecedented power and control of automating the simulation process. With Optimetrics, designers can include proprietary cost functions and optimization routines. The designer also can completely explore the design space quickly and perform sensitivity analysis, ensuring an optimal solution with the least amount of sensitivity to the manufacturing tolerances.
The equivalent circuit generation capability allows engineers to analyze coil voltage and current waveforms as a function of rotor position. The software considers electromagnetic torque generated on the moving parts, nonlinear variations in flux, equations of motion, and load circuit effects. Designers can easily evaluate differential flux and target geometry and dynamic behavior of complete sensing systems, including Hall Effect IC and electrical load circuit integrated with nonlinear electromagnetic behavior of the sensor. With a single set of parametric runs, engineers can explore multiple design alternatives in the schematic capture simulator.
