3. SIwave v3 Adds Package and Board Co-Design for EMI/EMC
Announcing SIwave™ v3, a full-wave electromagnetic-field simulator optimized for signal- and power-integrity analysis of high-performance PCBs and IC packages. The new version provides expanded analysis capabilities for board and package co-design and EMI/EMC studies. Customers in the computer, semiconductor, networking, communications, and high-performance consumer electronics industries benefit from SIwave v3 as it broadens the scope of simulation, more closely realizes the complete system configuration, and ultimately saves design time and cost as design re-spins are reduced.

4. Optimetrics v4 Introduces Optimization Algorithms and Distributed Analysis
Ansoft recently released the latest version of Optimetrics™, an add-on product that works with HFSS™, Ansoft Designer®, Q3D Extractor®, and Maxwell® to perform parametric studies, statistical/sensitivity analysis, and optimization. Optimetrics v4 introduces SNLP (Sequential Nonlinear Programming) and SMINLP (Sequential Mixed-Integer Nonlinear Programming) optimization algorithms. Applying Response Surface Modeling (RSM) techniques, these complementary methods allow engineers to optimize over a continuous design space and/or to specify discrete steps between instances, respectively.

5. Q3D Extractor v7 Offers Reliable Importing of CAD Models, Package Layouts
The latest release of Q3D Extractor®, Ansoft’s 3D quasi-static electromagnetic parasitic extraction tool, computes 3D RLC/2D RLCG parameters from interconnect structures and automatically generates an equivalent SPICE circuit. This release introduces new features that make it easier and more reliable for engineers to import 3D CAD models and IC, PCB, and package layouts from third-party tools.

6. PExprt v6 Service Pack 3 Enables Enhanced Planar Component Modeling
PExprt™ customers can download PExprt v6 Service Pack 3 from Ansoft’s Online Technical Support (OTS) site. Highlights of Service Pack 3 include the ability to define planar technologies using minimum track width, separation, and thickness; optimization of track width for each winding stack in a planar component; expanded core libraries; separation definition by decades; and magnetic component design with gap at both core legs. For more information, refer to the release notes included with the update, available via the web-update capability in the software or at the OTS site.
