1. Leading Insight Workshops Draw Record Attendance (top)
Its still not too late to register for Ansofts Leading Insight application workshops for high-performance electronic design. The events in Asia, Dallas, Los Angeles, Detroit, San Jose, Boston, Toronto, and Phoenix drew a record number of attendees, and we expect the same for Portland (11/14) and the remaining European events. Presentations from leading technology companies, together with Ansofts technical staff, cover IC design and verification; signal and power integrity; RF, microwave, and antenna design; and advanced packaging and PCB design.

2. Nexxim v3.5 Expands Communication IC and High-Speed Design (top)
Nexxim® v3.5, the latest version of Ansofts high-performance circuit simulator, continues its emphasis on simulation speed, capacity, and accuracy, while introducing new analyses and Verilog A support, further enhancing the simulation of high-performance electronic design, from signal integrity analysis to high-frequency ICs used in communications systems. Building upon the software architecture and success of the previous releases, Nexxim v3.5 introduces Oscillator, Circuit Envelope, Periodic Transfer Function, Monte-Carlo and Loadpull analyses to its transient, harmonic balance and noise (time variant and phase) simulation capabilities. Additionally, Nexxim v3.5 natively supports Verilog A, which adds a new dimension of design simulation by enabling system descriptions other than electrical.

4. Taiyo Yuden, UMS, Ansoft, Collaborate on 60GHz Transceiver IC Design (top)
The abundant bandwidth in the 60GHz millimeter-wave band opens new opportunities to transfer tremendous volumes of data for enterprise, data storage, and entertainment without the need for physical interconnection. Enabling the broad adoption of new electronic systems that take advantage of these opportunities requires high-performance, integrated, and low-cost solutions. Japanese electronics manufacturer Taiyo Yuden, European semiconductor foundry United Monolithic Semiconductors (UMS), and Ansoft, have collaborated to meet the challenges associated with designing integrated circuits at millimeter-wave frequencies.
