PITTSBURGH - Sept. 9, 2002 - Ansoft Corporation (NASDAQ: ANST) congratulates Dr. Ulrich Lothar Rohde for his appointment as an Honorary Professor at the Technical University of Cottbus.

The Technical University of Cottbus has appointed Prof. Dr. h.c. mult. Ulrich L. Rohde, Ph.D. Honorary Professor for High Frequency Techniques and Microwave Circuit Design, effective April 18, 2002. The certificate of appointment was given to Professor Rohde during a celebration banquet in Cottbus by Prof. Dr. h.c. Ernst Sigmund, President of the University of Cottbus.

"Professor Rohde, a Fellow of the IEEE, is internationally well-known for his work and publications in the RF and microwave field and is a welcome addition to the faculty of Electrical Engineering at Cottbus University," stated Prof. Sigmund. This appointment was requested by the faculty and the Dean of Engineering Prof. Dr.-Ing. Klaus Fellbaum. Professor Rohde already had been appointed Visiting Professor at the University of Cottbus as of April 4, 2001 and gave various lectures and seminars in the field of Microwave Technology and Circuit Design.

Dr. Rohde, who has served on Ansoft's board of directors since 1997, has more than 20 years of experience with microwave circuit theory and technology. He has published numerous articles and books on the subject and has lectured throughout North America, Europe, and Asia. Formerly the President and Chief Executive Officer of Compact Software Inc., Dr. Rohde currently is President of Communications Consulting Corporation, Chairman of Synergy Microwave Corporation, and a partner of Rohde & Schwarz.
